Taxes - Collecting and Remitting
Hosts have command of all the tools and resources necessary to maintain tax compliance on their own. At this time, Lodge Lovers does not pay/remit taxes on the host's behalf. Lodge Lovers does collect taxes according to the specifications of each host.
Hosts are able to input required tax values and these values will be added by Lodge Lovers to the total amount charged to the guest.
REMITTING TAXES: Lodge Lovers does not Remit taxes on behalf of the host.
Lodge Lovers recommends the host do the following:
- Become familiar with all local, sate, and federal rules before listing a property on Lodge Lovers, making the most informed decision to list and receive guest bookings through LodgeLovers.com.
- Educate themselves on the local, state, and federal jurisdiction laws for Collectiong and Remitting taxes before listing the property.
- Consider that by accepting the Terms of Service of Lodge Lovers and listing the property, certification and agreement has been made that applicable laws and regulations will be followed.
- Find out what % each local/state/country requires be Collected and input these in the correlating fields on Step 3 - Laws and Taxes when setting up the listing or making adjustments to a listing regarding taxes.
- Most local and state jurisdictions have ordinances or rules covering "homesharing."
- These specific codes and/or ordinances can appear in many places such as planning, zoning, building codes, licensing or tax codes.
- In many jurisdictions, a host must register, get a permit, or obtain a license before listing a property and accepting guests. It is likely a host not have a value for every input field.
- In some places, short-term rentals may be prohibited altogether.
- All taxes will be collected by Lodge Lovers in accordance with the %'s the host has designated in Step 3 - Laws and Taxes.
- These collected taxes will be included in the host's payout amount.
- The final receipt for each stay will detail the amount of taxes Lodge Lovers collected on behalf of the host.
- This provides the host precise records to remit taxes.
- Receipts can be found in the host Dashboard under the Account tab.
- At the Account page, locate Transaction History.
- Next, click the receipt number to view the receipt details.
